Associate

Shauna has focused her legal career on serving tribal governments and their business entities. She provides a broad range of services for tribal clients including advising and negotiating tribal financings, hotel and convenience store development, land acquisition, construction and other economic-development needs. Shauna advises clients on governance matters, statute drafting and revisions, gaming regulation and other federal Indian law issues. Shauna also provides litigation services for clients with experience in civil matters, treaty rights, probate, housing, and child protection. Shauna is passionate about supporting tribal communities and the prosperity of tribal people.

Shauna is an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe. Before entering private practice, Shauna served as Deputy Solicitor General with the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, where she worked closely with the Commissioner of Community Development on community planning initiatives. Shauna has experience working on transactions in housing, real estate, community development, public works, construction and other development and utility infrastructure needs. While working in-house, Shauna litigated cases related to housing, child protection and criminal violations. Shauna also has experience working as a law clerk, on both civil and criminal matters, in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District for the Honorable Robert A. Blaeser. Shauna decided to pursue a career in law after serving as an Indian Child Welfare Social Worker for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

In her spare time, Shauna enjoys running, knitting, advocating for early childhood education and spending time with her husband and two children.
